Dear Valued Customer,
We are writing to share an important update following the Central Bank of Kenya’s recent announcement.
The Central Bank of Kenya and the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning have approved the transfer of the business, assets and liabilities of Access Bank (Kenya) Plc to National Bank of Kenya Limited.
This approval is an important milestone in bringing the two banking operations together. The transfer will take effect once the applicable transaction, regulatory, governance and operational requirements have been completed. Until then, Access Bank Kenya and National Bank of Kenya will continue to operate as separate legal and operating entities.
The transfer is the legal process through which Access Bank Kenya’s business, assets and liabilities will be brought into National Bank of Kenya. Your account, funds, facilities and access to services continue under the current arrangements, and no immediate action is required from you.
What this means for you
There is no immediate change to your banking arrangements arising solely from this announcement. Please continue using your existing:
- Accounts and account numbers
- Cards, cheque books and payment instructions
- Loans, facilities and repayment arrangements
- Mobile and internet banking channels
- Branch and relationship contacts
Our intention is to manage the transition as seamlessly as possible and minimize any action required from you. If a future change affects your account, facility, mandate, channel or service arrangement, we will contact you directly, provide advance notice and explain clearly what you need to do.
What happens next
The integration will be implemented carefully and in phases, subject to completion of the applicable regulatory, governance and operational requirements. The process will be overseen by the Board, management teams and relevant regulators, and we will communicate confirmed milestones as it progresses.
Why this matters
The combination brings together National Bank of Kenya’s local trust, heritage and established relationships with Access Bank’s scale, expertise and wider African footprint.
Over time, the future institution will be better positioned to serve individuals, businesses, corporates and public institutions, support regional trade and contribute meaningfully to economic growth in Kenya and across East Africa.
Our priority throughout the process is continuity, clear communication and the protection of your banking relationship. Please continue to use only the Bank’s verified channels and never share your PIN, password or one-time password. We will contact you directly and provide clear guidance before any future change affecting your banking arrangements.
If you have any questions, please contact your relationship manager, visit your usual branch or use our verified customer service channels.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.
